Why We Love It
1. Location. You hear it all the time... the one thing you can't change about a home is its location. Luckily, this house has you covered. Located in Old Hilliard, you are within walking distance to some of Hilliard’s most popular destinations; stop into Local Cantina, Otie's, Old Bag of Nails, or Starliner Diner for a drink or a bite to eat before a concert at Hilliard Station Park. Then grab some Whit's frozen custard when it's over. [Or stop back in for a second drink... you are walking home after all.]
2. Basement. If you have looked at other homes in this area over the last 6 months, you will see we are pretty unique because we have a basement. But not just any basement... a nicely finished basement! Adding more than 650 square feet to the living space, you have plenty of options down here. There is a second living area for another couch and TV, there is space for a ping pong table or pool table, and the laundry area is great. You've probably looked at some homes where they cram the washer and dryer into the kitchen... but not here. You have plenty of space for hanging clothes to dry and even a place for out of season clothes. Finishing off the basement are a few different closet areas for all your storage needs.
3. Backyard. This backyard is perfect for you entertainers out there. Go ahead, invite your entire family and all your friends over for a cookout, a nightcap, or those all important football Saturdays. With this backyard [and the finished basement that leads right to it] you have the room. There is a large concrete pad that is ready for a table and chairs and it leads right to the garage that our homeowners used as another living space with couches and a TV for those Buckeye games we mentioned. Over on the well manicured lawn is where you'll find a few more gathering areas. One of the areas has an amazing firebowl that sits atop a pile of limestone and it's sure to be a popular spot. The other areas were created with the idea of conversation and relaxation in mind.
What You Need To Know
A beautiful 1-story home, in old Hilliard, with a finished basement, and great backyard, at an affordable price. That pretty much sums up everything you really need to know about this one :-)
From the curb, you see a tidy yard, neutral colored siding, and a pop of color from the red door. There is even a pad where you can sit and sip some lemonade on nice days.
First Floor: Stepping inside, you immediately feel that classic 1950's character... and will notice how well it combines with today's decorating trends. The living room takes original hardwood floors, combines them with the white trim and fireplace mantle, and sprinkles in tasteful furniture and decor to create a look that is timeless and modern at the same time. The windows were replaced in 2009 and a large one is located here looking out on your front yard.
A hallway on your left will lead you to the full bathroom and all three bedrooms [or two bedrooms and one amazing walk-in closet if you're like our homeowners]. The hardwood floors continue back here with carpet in one of the rooms as well. A feature I've always liked about this era of home is that the bedroom windows are higher so you're able to place furniture where you want it.
Back through the living room, we make our way to the kitchen. Fresh white cabinets and updated flooring create a clean look and there is plenty of space for your kitchen table as well. Access to the backyard and finished basement is found at the back of the kitchen.
Basement: The lower level is separated into three distinct spaces but they remain open to each other.
The largest of the spaces is basically one big open area that is perfect for ping pong, pool, foosball, or whatever else you have in mind.
A cozy living area was created down here by simply adding a partition wall and some built-in cabinetry. Even though it's fully open to the rest of the basement, it has it's own little feel to it.
On the other side of the steps is a large, open, laundry room. It's been quite awhile since I've seen a laundry room that left an impression on me like this one did.
Backyard: Step out the backdoor and find the great backyard that we spoke about earlier. These homeowners have created an abundance of usable living space in their backyard... and they used it year round. There is plenty of yard left for you play in and it's fenced in so your four-legged friend can enjoy it as well.
The two car garage is where your vehicle will spend a lot time as you take your five minute walk into the heart of Old Hilliard.
Updates: Since 2009, the windows, roof, air conditioner, some doors, and some flooring has been updated.
