Why We Love It
1. The Backyard. I'll admit it... I'm the guy who looks at the backyard before I look at the house. The house is important, don't get me wrong, but it's a lot easier to paint some walls than it is to plant a 30 year old tree. I love cooking out, sitting around a fire pit with friends and family, and just enjoying a little peace and quiet at the end of the day. This amazing deck and backyard lets you do all of that. The deck has built-in seating, a swing, and even a space cut out for your hot tub. The first time you take a dip under the stars, you'll know exactly why you decided to buy this home.
2. The Basement. The good thing about homes with a great room concept is how open they are. The bad thing about homes with a great room concept is how open they are. See how that works? It's great to be able to have everyone together and part of the same conversation but sometimes it's nice to have a separate living area (if you know any parents of teenagers... ask them). The finished basement in this home provides exactly that. You can have a rec room with a pool table or another TV/media area with a sectional down here. Plus there is a 3rd full bathroom down here!
3. The Neighborhood. There are still residents of Grove City who have no idea where Hennigan's Grove is located... and I'm saying that as a compliment. This neighborhood is completely tucked away in a corner of Grove City between 104 and the woods surrounding the Scioto River. This is an area so scenic and peaceful that the Metro Parks just opened Scioto Grove, their brand new park, around the corner. Take a look at the satellite image in the map below so you can really appreciate just how much nature surrounds your quiet little neighborhood.
What You Need To Know
This is a home where you might have to get used to friends, family, and neighbors wanting to hangout in a little more often. You've got multiple spaces for groups to gather and in the summer especially, you'll probably have to chase them away when they linger too long on your back deck.
As you step in from the covered front porch, you begin in a two story foyer with options all around you. You can go: Straight - into the great room. Right - into the den/dining/living room. Left - upstairs. Left - down to the basement.
The flexible space on the right has glass double doors on one side and a glass single door on the other side. This room could be used as a den, a formal living room, or as a dining room if you need space for an existing table and hutch.
The great room has a bump-out and a fireplace on the back wall. It's a room large enough to hold plenty of people but still cozy enough to be comfortable when it's just you and the DVR. There is a ceiling fan to keep you cool in the summer and a vaulted portion of the ceiling adding a little more visual interest about the fireplace.
The great room leads right into the eat-in kitchen that is large enough for a full sized table... and even a desk as you can see. With access to the great room, backyard, den, garage, powder room, and laundry room... it's safe to assume this will be the central hub of your daily activities.
As you climb the switchback staircase to the second level, you find all 4 bedrooms and 2 of the 3 full bathrooms of the home. Your owner's suite has vaulted ceilings and lots of architectural interest, allowing you to keep things simple if that's your taste. Your private bathroom has a double vanity, soaking tub, stand alone shower, and brand new floors that you'll love. The tile floors were just recently installed and they look just like barnwood... without the danger of splinters :-) They were added to the guest full bathroom as well.
The finished basement is perfect for many different uses. It could be a rec room, media room, teen suite, bedroom... you name it. The current owners wisely spent the extra money to install another full bathroom down here to save trips up and down the steps.
The backyard and deck are my favorite area of this home. The deck is large with multiple sitting zones that include built-in benches and a swing. The cut portion of the deck is perfect for a hot tub and there is a screen for added privacy. The deck over looks a yard with mature trees and a little breathing room between you and the neighbor's house behind you.
